Introduction to EBA Course 2025
On Saturday, May 24th, 2025, a total of 34 participants of USK Banda Aceh Fieldwork 2025 and Minamata Fieldwork 2025 programs completed the Introduction to EBA online course. Spanning over 6 weeks from April 12th, 2025, the course aimed to equip participants with the evidence-based mindset in preparation for their upcoming fieldwork.

Participants from many different countries joined the live presentation session
The course blended self-paced and project-based learning, with biweekly real-time check points for participants to share and discuss their research findings. In Mini Project 1, participants shared the result of their observation on trends that are happening in their neighborhood. They discussed the similarities and differences between trends that happen across different locations in Asia, and how the local contexts influence the way people react to these trends.

Digging deeper with the interview method in Mini Project 2, participants explored the concept of Resilient Society. Reflecting on their research findings, they discussed the definition of resilient society in the context of their choice and developed a proposal for the said resilient society. Each group explored the topic in many different perspectives from disaster management, community-government relationship, living with AI, environmental issues, to broader humanity values.

Participants gathered data and conducted interviews to present their findings about resilient society
With the course wrapping up, participants will move on to their respective fieldwork, ready to apply what they’ve learned.
